Peter Steele, Co-Founder
Pete, a co-founder of Corax & Coffee, has been an ardent fan of tabletop gaming since his single-digit years. Like many of his generation, Pete got his start with AD&D 2nd Edition, HeroQuest, Axis & Allies, Star Fleet Battles (Captain's Edition Basic Set), and BattleTech (just to name a few). He truly fell in love with tabletop gaming when he was introduced to the first edition of the Star Trek: Customizable Card Game in 1994. Most of all, Pete enjoys 4x games, sandbox games, and games with stacks and stacks of cards. He loves both playing games and discussing the meta-game with others, as well as bringing new people and ideas into the tabletop community. Pete grew up in New England, and has spent a good amount of time in Northern Ohio, the Salt Lake Valley, Central Texas, and San Francisco Bay. He currently resides in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.
Keegan King, Co-Founder
As a co-founder of Corax & Coffee, Keegan finds immense joy in being able to introduce new people to his love of tabletop gaming. He is a product of many types of games, falling in love with role-playing video games, like Final Fantasy, Shin Megami Tensei, and even Pokemon, which started opening up his eyes to creating and exploring new worlds. As he grew up, his love began to expand into board games and tabletop RPGs, which allowed him to experience worlds that he had a hand in creating. Some of his favorites included Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, and an admittedly weird time playing White Wolf/CCP games (we all have an angsty goth phase, right?). Since then, Keegan has maintained his grasp on all things dark and brooding and loves the theme of horror over most other things. He also gets a kick out of CCGs, enjoys board games that are doomy or gloomy, becomes enthralled with the occasional video game, and generally loves a dungeon crawling, back-stabbing good time. Keegan is a musician, a psychology student, an avid reader, and an all-around nerd in the Pacific Northwest. He's also half Canadian and broadly biracial, which can lead to some interesting insights.
Rick Hendricks, Content Creator and Developer
As a regular contributor to Corax & Coffee, Rick can often be found at Renaissance fairs and live action role-playing (LARPing) events. A big fan of games like Betrayal at House on the Hill and Dominion, he strives to make more time in his week to meet new and familiar friends in imagined worlds. Rick is passionate about introducing new people to the hobby, helping them find the cool things about their characters, and making sure they feel appreciated. That way he can lure them back to save him from the many problems he can’t lockpick or gossip his way out of. Rick traveled around a bit with the military before landing back in his home state of Massachusetts, where he enjoys locksport, escape rooms, and playing pranks on his lovely wife. Chances are good that he is currently planning his next LARP and eagerly anticipating the first breath of the freeing air of another world.
Ms. Shaw, Content Creator
As a contributor to Corax & Coffee, Ms. Shaw primarily brings gaming experience related to improv and theater games. Ms. Shaw is enjoying learning more and more about the tabletop gaming community, and she is finding that she takes a particular shine to role-playing and cooperative games, such as Dungeons & Dragons and Horrified, as well as games featuring large Lovecraftian creatures (e.g., Call of Cthulhu). Additionally, Ms. Shaw enjoys any game that encourages the wearing of costumes – perhaps because Ms. Shaw believes herself to be the alter ego of an infamous superhero, but that information would be classified (obviously). Anyhow, in her spare time, Ms. Shaw greatly enjoys creating “art,” going on beach trips, and attending stand-up comedy shows. Ms. Shaw was born, raised, and still lives in the Pacific Northwest, but hopes to one day outgrow the nickname “Oregon” by fulfilling her dream of living a full year in New York City.
Sarah Vasa, Editor and Social Media Manager
Behind the scenes editor of all things related to Corax & Coffee, Sarah is a newcomer to the hobby tabletop gaming community and still in the process of exploring different genres and sub-genres. While she is still working out concepts like the dangers of splitting the party in a dungeon crawl, she picked up deck building games, like Dominion, in a snap. Sarah can initially be quite intimidated by the large number of components of many tabletop games, especially dudes-on-a-map games with their decks of cards, miniatures, and piles of tokens and counters; but when she commits to these seemingly overwhelming games, she has found that she is able to take on more experienced players (and will leave the gaming table smiling and determined). Willing to try almost any game once, so long as her time permits, the rest of us at Corax & Coffee are looking forward to the day when Sarah is willing to try one of the grand space operas, such as Twilight Imperium: 4th Edition or Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy. Hopefully one day Sarah will write a review or two (or ten??), but for now, she’s happy to contribute to Corax & Coffee with her red pen. Aside from board games, Sarah loves a good salmon burger and fries, a sitcom, and traveling to new and distant lands in the real world.
