Game Jargon Definition: “Bathtub Campaign”

Bathtub Campaign (noun) – bath·tub cam·paign /ˈbaTHˌtəb kamˈpān/

A bathtub campaign, sometimes simply called a “bathtub,” is a wargaming scenario that is shrunk or reduced from its original scope. This is typically done in order to conform to the resources (such as number of players, available miniatures, tabletop space, available time, etc.) that are on hand. A bathtub campaign can also occur when modifying a historical battle or campaign to wargaming rules for a different system that requires scaled-down versions. For example, while a real-life battle was fought with battalions, it is simulated in-game with platoons or squads.
