Game Jargon Definition: "Bleed"

Bleed (noun) – / blēd /

In LARP, a player and their character share a body. Both entities are physically present when fighting, making a friend, or watching a fellow player’s character die. As a result of this, it is common for the player to experience emotions that, in actuality, realistically only belong to the player’s character. This shared emotional experience is extremely helpful for immersion and often quite enjoyable. Specifically, the term “bleed” refers to the character’s emotion that follows the player after they are no longer actively playing the game. This emotional experience is sometimes so intense that it requires careful processing as a form of aftercare.
