Undaunted: Reinforcements

One of the things you might not know about Pete is that he spent part of his time in undergrad being a history major. One of the first things history majors learn is that you can’t think about history through the constant lens of hindsight. The people who created history (a.k.a. just living their lives), didn’t have that advantage. They were at a crossroads at every moment of their lives, not knowing what each action would lead to. Board games are a lot like that. Whether they be war games or anything else.

Join Pete as he unboxes Undaunted: Reinforcements (2021) designed by Trevor Benjamin and David Thompson and published by Osprey Games. Undaunted: Reinforcements follows on the heels of Undaunted: Normandy (2019) and Undaunted: North Africa (2020), and will soon be followed by Undaunted: Stalingrad (2022). All part of a growing WWII-based deck-building, tokens-on-a-map scenario-driven game based on historical battles.

We highly recommend you check this one out, and the sooner the better. We live in tumultuous times, and while The Cold War is over, a second one seems to be brewing. If we don’t know our history…well, you know the rest of it.

And as Tom Lehrer said so pointedly some 60 years ago, within his own business of music, if we’re going to write songs about World War III, we better start writing then now. Perhaps the same is true for board games. So check out Undaunted: Reinforcements so you can have the proper historical board gaming context to understand prophetic World War III games which may be on the horizon. Best we play them before we die from the actual war, no? Maybe there’s something to be learned here about how we treat our fellow human beings. For now. Check out the unboxing video. Also, check out the music of Tom Lehrer. He’s awesome.
